Join Brad in the journey of making a real difference

Five days, one trail, one podiatrist raising awareness for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foot health and diabetes.

Brad will be running the 138km Canberra Centenary Trail over Podiatry Week.

Did you know? Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living with diabetes have 30x higher risk of lower limb amputation. That's why it's important to get your annual foot check with a podiatrist and care for your feet.

In the true spirit of giving back to the ACT community, Brad is looking to make real difference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are facing challenges in their life. This page is a place for supporters, and supporters of Canberra Hospitals Foundation to join the cause and help Brad raise funds for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing.

Donations to this cause will directly benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing initiatives at Canberra Health Services.

Please join the journey. Your contribution, big or small, will make a tangible difference.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you’ll get a receipt by email as soon as you make your donation.

Thank you for your support.

Day 1: Job done!

Monday 12th Oct

DAY 1. THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE. 🏃🏾‍♂️ ⬛️🟡🟥

Today, Brad made the first 23km section! But the one purpose is bigger than the run itself.

This is about Aboriginal foot health. This is about diabetes. And this is about raising awareness for a cause that deserves far more attention than it gets.

Foot health can have a life-changing impact, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples affected by diabetes. Too many people face preventable complications that can change their lives forever.

Brad has started taking on the Centenary Trail to help bring that conversation to the forefront.

The kilometres are his challenge. Raising awareness is his mission.

Because the goal isn’t just to finish the trail. It’s to make the miles mean something.

Follow the journey. Share the message. Help get this conversation heard.

Let’s make this bigger than the run.

Day 3: Another 25km

Wednesday 14th Oct

Day 3 of Strong Steps, Strong Community — another day of putting one foot in front of the other for a cause that’s bigger than the run.

This journey is about raising awareness of Aboriginal foot health, diabetes prevention and the importance of early intervention.

🦶🏽 Diabetes and foot health matter.

For people living with diabetes, maintaining strict blood glucose control is essential to reducing the risk of serious complications. Regular foot checks, early identification of problems and access to podiatry care can help prevent diabetic foot ulcers, infections and, in severe cases, amputations.

Too many people experience preventable complications simply because the right checks and care don’t happen early enough.

Every conversation matters. Every foot check matters. Every step matters.

The kilometres might hurt, the body might get tired, and some days might feel like running through hell — but the reason behind this run is bigger than any discomfort I’ll experience on the trail.

Strong Steps. Strong Community. Better Foot Health.

Let’s keep the conversation going and make every step count. ⬛️🟡🟥🦘
